More than 30 Local Rural Cooperatives gathering in Beirut over the weekend for "Souk Jana Loubnan" organized by Fair Trade Lebanon and the ministry of Agriculture
Under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Ghazi Zeaiter and with the support of the Directorate General of Cooperatives, Fair Trade Lebanon launched "Souk Jana Loubnan" event on Friday, October 12th at 4.30 pm at the Trainstation in Mar Mickhael - Beirut. This three-day event was organized for the first time in Beirut.
"Souk Jana Loubnan" brought together more than 30 cooperatives from all over the Lebanese regions. It aims mainly at bringing rural specialties and agricultural products to the city in order to economically support local cooperatives by expanding their reach and raising awareness about their products.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Ghazi Zeaiter, the Director General of the Cooperatives in the Ministry Mrs. Gloria Abi Zeid, the President of Fair Trade Lebanon, Me. Samir Abdel Malak along with the members of the NGO, as well as a number of personalities, donors, the media and members of the rural agricultural cooperatives.
Among the different activities organized during this three-day event, Bloggers participated with their children to a fun & educational activity: a DYI Saj mini-workshop. Children from different ages learnt how to make their own Saj manouché in a very lively and fun atmosphere.
This event, organized for the first time in Beirut, falls under the line of similar exhibitions and fairs organized by the NGO in all the Lebanese regions, and comes in addition to the biggest exhibition held yearly in spring by the association to celebrate World Fair Trade Day.
